His on-screen set designs, lighting and actors’ wardrobe are permanently etched in my mind, and it always a small dream of mine to re-create his films’ epic cinematography. I believe any photographer who watched his films will want to jump on the bandwagon of shooting something like this. And indeed with a suitable location, many flocked to this gem of a hotel, Kam Leng Hotel that is set almost identical to one in ‘in the mood for love’.
With willing parties and a dependable hair and make-up artist who were also WKW fanatics, we embark on this cinematic venture. Not forgetting my cinematographer buddy, Jeremy who tried to weave a story in and that really elevated the value of this set of photos as I piece them together after my edits. So here it is, my small tribute to the grandmaster himself.
